Well, I thought this to be an interesting peice of tidbit. Its a bit scary to think that Diabetes has been become such a fast growing illness and it seems like it not a predjudice thing.... either. This makes me feel more impelled to make sure that we all really have to be aware and to spread the knowledge. Ignorance should not be an option!
"The number of Native Americans suffering from diabetes has nearly doubled over the past decade, and a new study warns that the problem has grown especially acute among youth. According to researchers at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), working in conjunction with the Indian Health Service, diabetes incidence among Native Americans younger than 35 now stands at 2.2 per 1,000 population, double the 1994 rate. Statistics are even more grim in the upper age brackets, with Native Americans in their mid-30s suffering a diabetes rate of 46.8 per 1,000 people. Women were significantly more likely to have diabetes than men. The study's findings were published in a recent edition of the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report." - Information @ LifeScripts.com
